Rovers 1 AFC Didsbury 2nd 4 09/09/18

09/09/2018 Match Report Development Team

Scorer Ben Costello

Rovers second game of the season saw them face a tough Didsbury side who outplayed us at Hough End last season in this fixture.

The game started terribly for Rovers with Didsbury being awarded a penalty in the first minute of the game. It was soft to say the least with even some Didsbury players unsure as to why the decision was given.

After that right Rovers started to play well and had the better of the chances in the remainder of the first half. Jack Booth and then Eric having a chance cleared off the line from a corner. 1-0 down at half time felt a little unfair on Rovers who had played some great football at times.

In the second half Rovers started well and again had a couple of good chances. Andy Weaver having a goal-bound shot cleared by the recovering defender. Didsbury then began to press and soon got a couple more goals in quick succession to kill the game.

Rovers kept pushing and trying to play the game the right way. Didsbury got a 4th after some good football undid Rovers again. Rovers managed a consolation goal after a through ball from Andy Weaver put Ben Costello through who put he ball away for 4-1.

Overall a decent performance against a strong Didsbury side. The team is showing promise and there are some good new players in the team
