Rovers 1 North Manchester 3 13/10/18

13/10/2018 Match Report Saturday Team

Scorer Andy Murphy

The game was built with a "season starts now" mentality and with a big squad available the feeling before the game was very positive. However things didn't turn out that way. Rovers found themselves 2 nil down in the first half following a poor performance and some lacklustre defending. Rovers discipline also went walkabout when John Hitchen was sent off for constantly berating the referee giving Rovers the uphill task of chasing a 2 nil deficit with 10 men. By all accounts the ref did have a poor half but players cannot berate said ref without being punished.

After the break Rovers got back into the game when Andy Murphy pulled one back for 2-1.However Rovers then gifted North Manchester a goal to kill the game. In the last 2 minutes of the game saw North Manchester provoke and goad Rovers which led to handbags between both teams which resulted with Rob Nolan being sent off for Rovers and North Manchester having two of there players being sent off.

A game to forget in many ways and Rovers have no-one to blame but themselves. Ego's / divas attitudes need to be left in the car and the players needing to concentrate on a team performance as per the first two games of the season.

Big thanks to Graham for taking the team.

Next up is the rearranged County Cup first round tie vs Radclyffe at Failsworth Sports Centre with a 2pm kick off on Saturday the 20th of October.
